About
This course is designed for interpreters already working in non-legal domains who want to learn more about interpreting in the legal domain. The program starts with four introductory 30-minute modules that provide a general overview of the legal system in the U.S. and what interpreters should know about ethics and legal terminology. This is followed by four 30-minute modules at the intermediate level with suggested strategies to improve the interpreter's performance in a legal setting, and then moves on to the advanced level, where each module will go into greater detail about ethics, terminology and legal procedure. The instructor will also provide live one-hour Zoom sessions after each level to answer questions and clarify doubts. The last part of the course will consist of six hours of recorded material for individual practice and feedback from the instructor.
